Andrew Gonzalez is Professor and Liber Ero Chair in Biodiversity Conservation in the Department of Biology, McGill University, Montreal. His research is focused on global change impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems, quantifying rates of change, and proposing solutions to stem the loss of biodiversity. His group provides science-based advice on the design of connected protected areas. He is one of the most highly cited researchers in the field of biodiversity science. He has spoken about his research around the world, including the World Economic Forum in Davos. He is co-Chair of the Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network, and the founding Director of the Quebec Centre for Biodiversity Science. He is also the cofounder of Eco2Urb, a spin-off company dedicated to providing science-based advice and design principles to conserve biodiversity and ecosystems in urban and natural contexts.
