Sylvie Vignet was a municipal councillor for 12 years before being elected Mayor of Rivière-du-Loup in November 2017. Dedicated and passionate, she served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup and of the Réseau des femmes professionnelles de Rivière-du-Loup. She also served as a member or administrator for a number of regional committees and organizations. As an elected city official, Sylvie Vignet has held various national positions over the years. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Réseau québécois des villes et villages en santé since 2010, henceforth known as Espace Muni. She is also Vice-President of the Caucus des cités régionales de l’Union des municipalités du Québec (Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ) Central Municipalities Caucus), where she also sits on the Commission Femmes et gouvernance (Women and Governance Commission), the Comité sur le transport aérien (air transport committee), the Comité maritime (maritime committee) and the Commission des Assises annuelles (Annual meetings Commission). At the local level, she has served on the Commission municipale de la sécurité publique et des incendies since 2012, which she also chaired for a few years, as well as the RCM since 2018. She is a member of the Advisory Committee on the management of residual materials, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Société d’économie mixte d’énergie renouvelable (SÉMER) in the Rivière-du-Loup region.
