Mr. Paquin graduated in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario in 1977. He then worked for seven years at the Texaco refinery in Montreal-East as a process engineer and environmental engineer. Mr. Paquin then worked in the engineering and environmental division of an industrial cleaning company that became Sanexen Environmental Services Inc. after a management buyout. Mr. Paquin has been Vice-President of Technology for the company for most of its history. Mr. Paquin has had the prime or shared technical responsibility for over a hundred remediation and decontamination projects. Over the past 35 years, Mr. Paquin has worked on the development and use of cost-effective methods to process water, soils and waste. Since 2013, he has been working on contaminants of emerging interest. He acted as co-president of the table on toxics and emerging contaminants on the Collaborative Saint-Lawrence in 2019 and currently works as coordinator for the work group Assainissement 2.0 of Réseau Environnement.
