After completing a Master in water treatment, Thomas Dandres worked for the Groupe de recherche appliquée en macroécologie, a non-profit organization promoting the sustainable development. Working in partnership with Hydro-Québec, Gaz Métro and Gazifer, he gained strong knowledge in energy generation and climate change. In 2012, he obtained a Ph.D. in life cycle assessment (LCA) for the development of a new LCA method assessing environmental impacts of energy policies. Then, he conducted postdoctoral research in International Reference Centre for the Life Cycle of Products, Processes and Services (CIRAIG) and Synchromedia Lab to develop LCA metrics to minimize in real time the environmental footprint of a cloud computing technology developed by Synchromedia Lab. Since 2015, Thomas has become Research Officer in CIRAIG working both on research and industrial projects. In 2015, he also joined the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Green ICT Initiative where he supports the development of new emission standards for information and communication technologies (ICT), including the dynamicity of ICT into the calculation of emissions.
