Sophie Lafrance has a master’s degree in environmental management from Université de Sherbrooke and has worked in the field of waste management since 2002. She started out working in the municipal sector and in education and has been a research and planning officer at RECYC-QUÉBEC since 2008. She first handled issues arising at sorting centers and oversaw the work of the Joint Committee on Recyclable Materials from Curbside Recycling before turning her attention to organic matter and the Organic Matter Recycling Roundtable. She has also performed various project and process management duties and reviewed grant applications. For the past two years she has been responsible for matters related to curbside recycling. In early 2018 she became the head of the curbside recycling team, a job that involves overseeing various issues and initiatives for sorting centers, curbside recycling, the compensation plan, and construction, renovation, and demolition waste (CRD).
