– Electric MaaS: sustainable mobility
Mobility is problematic in most urban environments. Congestion and pollution issues are creating havoc for municipalities and municipal governments. Add to this, the fact that the younger demographic is increasingly uninterested in driving and the fact that the growing aging portion of the population will need to be driven (as opposed to driving itself), and we have a mobility situation that necessitates change.
Electrification and smartphone technology are combining to facilitate a transition to a more sustainable mobility. Electrification is required to help improve the air quality (costing billions of dollars in health-related costs). Smartphone technology is making it possible for new mobility business models to be created.
MaaS involves the seamless integration of mobility services within one monthly payment. It requires each of use, convenience and hassle-free travel to the point where users find it better than owning and operating a car.
