– CORSIA offsetting Scheme for Aviation : Overview and Perspectives for the GHG Services Industry

The international aviation sector has set a carbon-neutral growth target as of 2020. To achieve it, the industry has been investing in new technologies and aircraft fleet modernization managing to achieve carbon efficiency gains over the years. Nevertheless, rapidly rising traffic is expected to lead the sector’s carbon footprint to double by the mid 2040s. As a result, in 2016, 192 states decided to implement the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). When implemented, it will be the largest regulatory carbon market to date in terms of geographic coverage and amount of emission units to be offset. CCG experts have been involved in the development of the scheme and have been assisting countries and companies on various aspects related to CORSIA. Through the conference, attendants will learn essential information such as how CORSIA will work, what the estimated market size is and which emission reduction projects can qualify.
