– Comparison of energy sectors
Presentation of a comparative study of the environmental footprint of the various electricity production systems and electrical clusters in different regions of the world. The data relating to the impacts of different electricity production sectors were collected using a bibliographic review of LCAs carried out in this field. They concerned the production of electricity by non-renewable (natural gas, coal, fuel oil or nuclear) or renewable (hydroelectricity, solar, wind or biomass) thermal sectors. More than sixty representative reports or articles, published since 2007, were identified and analyzed. The data collected was also compared to that obtained in a previous study conducted by CIRAIG for Hydro-Québec on the impacts of its hydroelectricity production sectors.
