– Benefits of Combining In Situ Chemical Oxidation with In Situ Stabilization: Synergies and Solutions for Complex Sites

In situ stabilization and solidification (ISS) and in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) are well established technologies that have each been applied for decades. In recent years, several sites have combined these two technologies in a single application. There are several benefits depending upon the ratio at which the reagents are blended. These include potential overall reagent mass reduction, lower leachate concentrations, and better control over post application soil geotechnical characteristics. The reagent blend can be optimized depending on the balance of remedial goals of mass destruction from ISCO and contaminant stabilization from ISS.
